Solid Wall Insulation

Solid walls lose even more heat than cavity walls; the only way to reduce this heat loss is to insulate them on the inside or the outside.

This will help create a more even temperature in your home, help prevent condensation on the walls and ceilings and can also reduce the amount of heat building up inside your home during summer hot spells. It's not cheap, but you will soon see the benefits to your heating bill and it's another way of playing your part in reducing carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. There are two types of solid wall insulation: external and internal.

External wall insulation  -  How external wall insulation works

This involves adding a decorative weather-proof insulating treatment to the outside of your wall. The thickness of the insulation needs to be between 50 and 100mm and is usually installed where there are severe heating problems or the exterior of the building requires some form of other repair work providing the opportunity of adding insulation.

The savings

External wall insulation is more expensive than cavity wall insulation but it could save you around £380 a year on your energy bills and it could pay for itself in around 12 years.

A three bedroom semi-detached house could save around 2.6 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) a year.

The following table gives approximate costs, savings and paybacks for external solid wall insulation however the typical cost provided does not include any financial support or grants. Financial help may be available if you're planning to make energy saving improvements to your home.

The Government, energy suppliers and local authorities all provide grants or offers to help you implement energy saving measures in your home. For more information or to search for energy saving grants and offers call 0870 803 2271

Measure Annual saving per year (£ ) Installed cost £ Installed payback CO2 saving per year
External wall insulation Around £380 Around £4,500 Around 12 years Around 2.6 tonnes

If you are going to be renovating or repairing the exterior of your walls of your house then this is a very good time to consider installing solid wall insulation. In this case, the marginal cost of external solid wall insulation (i.e. the material costs and labour when other wall repairs are being undertaken) is around £1,900 and the payback time is around 5 years.

Internal Wall Insulation

Warm-A-Wall   >>>>     Internal Wall Solutions

  1. Easy to install
  2. 28% imporvement in energy efficiency
  3. Helps reduce condensation
  4. Stops unsightly mould growth
  5. Skim plastered to give a more traditional and robust finish
  6. Deals with waste disposal issue
  7. Re-cycled product helping the environment
  8. Helps save CO2 emissions
  9. Solid wall u-value 2.1 brought down to 1.51
  10. Warm-A-Wall IS A NEW FORM OF
  11. INSULATION ON A ROLL

It is applied to the wall like wallpaper then skim finished to give it a permanent finish. It can be used on any external wall to increase the insulation value even if the cavity wall insulation is fitted.

External Wall Insulation

Wall-Reform  >>>>

Wall-Reform is a unique revolutionary highly efficient thermal insulating plaster / render which is that can be applied internally or externally.  Externally, Wall-Reform can be applied ranging from 20mm up to 100mm in thickness with 40 to 50mm ( 2 inches )  being most popular. Wall-Reform can reduce energy consumption, saving money, thereby cutting fuel bills and CO2 emissions significantly.Other advantages of Wall Reform are its crack resistant properties, providing  long term durability and even alleviates condensation problems.

We then apply high quality silicon or acrylic textured low maintenance finish to the render which is available in 300 different colours. We are able to match the finish with the surrounding areas using various textures available; smooth, stipple, drag and scratched.

Insulated Render System

High Performance External Wall Insulated Render

Wall-Reform insulated render enables existing buildings to be refurbished to a high standard to improve both the thermal performance and the visual appearance of the property. A high quality silicon or acrylic textured low maintenance finish is available in a choice of 300 colours.

Applying WALL-REFORM insulated render at different thickness at:

  • 40mm provides a u-value of  0.81 w/mk giving a 60% energy saving
  • 50mm provides a u-value of  0.70 w/mk giving a 65% energy saving
  • 60mm provides a u-value of  0.62 w/mk giving a 69% energy saving

Real-Brick  >>>>

We can even replicate the brick or stone effect if desired. To do this we apply a kiln fired clay brick slip cladding system permanently bonded to a patented high impact Styrene template backer panel which comes with a twenty year system guarantee.

Insulated Cladding System

High Performance Insulated Brick Façade

Real-Brick Insulated Façade enables existing buildings to be refurbished to a high standard in either brick or stone cladding providing the added benefit of thermal insulation.

Applying Eurobrick-Insulated Façade at differnt thicknesses at:

  • 25mm provides a u-value of  0.55 w/mk giving a 70% energy saving
  • 50mm provides a u-value of  0.45 w/mk giving a 77% energy saving
  • 75mm provides a u-value of  0.35 w/mk giving a 85% energy saving

ENHANCING ENERGY

Serious considerations should be given to enhancing the energy of the sun. As part of our package we are able to offer solar solutions for heating the hot water supply.

With the dreaded water meters in full swing and escalating water bills we can also provide a rain water harvesting system which dramatically reduces the activity of the water meter. There is an ever increasing call on us all to reduce our water consumption as the demand starts to outstrip supply, though you wouldn’t believe it with the weather we have had this August.
