Government is Forcing Thermal Up-Grade When Renovating Homes |
|||||
September 25 2008 Government is forcing Thermal Up-Grade When Renovating Homes; but few are aware of this! Building Regulations Part L conservation of fuel Guidance on thermal elements and up-grading. Link for Building Regs Part L click here The consequence of this regulation is that whenever a building's Thermal element is below the threshold of u-value 0.70 it should be up graded to u-value 0.35 if a solid wall, but if this is not technically, functionally or economically feasible as written in the Document: “The element should be up-graded to the best standard that is technically and functionally feasible and delivers a simple payback period of 15 years or less.” A solution for thermally upgrading is to apply Wall-Reform thermal plaster/render product. This product was developed with backing from a government organization and fulfils the criteria outlined in the building regulations above . Wall-Reform has two full BBA certificates, one as a thermal plaster/render and another as a remedial plaster following a damp course. It also helps reduce condensation and was specifically developed to improve the living conditions for those living in solid wall properties. However, it can be used wherever any wall is being plastered or rendered and will increase the thermal element even when applied at 10mm thickness. Wall-Reform has full EST approval and CERT approval and there is a payback time where this product is used.
